MHW Dual Blades Meta Builds [Pre & Post Fatalis DB Builds]

This is the updated version of Dual Blades Build for Monster Hunter World. The previous builds feature the Silver Sol Armor – which is good for mid-game journey and some of the end game quests.

Alatreon also introduces Alatreon’s Madness – one of the best Dragon DB in MHW at the moment. Aside from that, you are still good with those Golden Kjarr DB

With Alatreon & Fatalis, we will need to refresh the builds with some new stuff. Below are the general builds for the current MHW Meta, including both the pre-Fatalis and the current Fatalis Dual Blades Build.

MHW DB Builds | What is the current Meta?

TL;DR Fatalis Fatalis Fatalis

Before Fatalis, you will either use the Master Touch + Agitator set (Raging Brachydios + Teostra) or the Full Safi’jiiva Armor set (True Dragonvein Awakening)

These armor set can be combined with a Kjárr Dual Blades and you are good to go with almost all monster.

Here come a new challenger!

Fatalis introduces one of the most meta armor set out there, simply equipping two pieces of Fatalis armor will let you unlock the level cap of armor skills (Artillery, Agiatotor, Divine Blessing…) This unlocks many possibilities for the end game build.

MHW Dual Blades Build | Armor

Similar to other melee weapons builds in Monster Hunter World, a good build come with the right armor set. Below armors are used in many Dual Blades builds. Each of these armor set come with certain strength and weakness, depend on your playstyle and preferences, pick one that you are most comfortable with.

Safi’jiiva Armor

A refresher on how to fight the Safi’jiiva? Check out our guide here!

DB is a good match for the full Safi’jiiva Armor build. This is thanks to DB’s fast attack speed, which can help you negate the HP Reduction of the Safi’s Armor’s Skill – Dragonvein Awakening.

With all 5 pieces equipped, you will also unlock True Dragonvein Awakening – which significantly increases your elemental damage and affinity.

The downside of this Armor set is the entry barrier. To effectively use this Armor set, you will need to always be aggressive and know when to back out. While Dual Blades is good for fast get in and get out play style, it does require significant practice to master all Dual Blades mechanic.

Raging Brachydios + Teostra Armor (Master Touch Meta Armor Set)

This is still the basis of all melee weapon. This combination simply reduce your Sharpening time to zero, which indirectly increase your DPS. This is especially true for Dual Blades, which works best when you are alway on the offensive side.

If you don’t like farming for Safi’jiiva, this is the perfect comfy set for you during the end game.

Fatalis Armor

As mentioned in my Fatalis Switch Axe guide, Fatalis Armor is the current meta now. You can do almost anything with this armor. All Beta variant comes with three levels 4 Decoration slot

Fatalis Armor Bonus Skill

Inheritance

Transcendence

Azure Age Armor Set

Azure Age Armor set comes from the latest USJ Event Quests. These two quests require you to beat Velkhana and Frostfang Barioth to get the materials

Despite the focus on Bow, the True Critical Element bonus from 4 pieces along with the high defense value are still a great addition for Dual Blades user.

MHW Dual Blades Builds Compilation

For Dual Blades, the meta is always elemental. Although Raw damage did have some uses here and there, the current meta for Dual Blades is still elemental. This is also the reason you pick this weapon in the first place right?

The Best Dual Blades right now are still Kjárr Dual Blades. All Kjárr Dual Blades come with Critical Element. These are used widely against monsters with good elemental hit zones (Lunastra/ Teostra, Raging Brachydios…)

For Dragon Element, Fatalis Dual Blades is the king.

For Dual Blades builds, depending on the monster you are going to face, you will need to go through your collection and pick out the right tool for the right job.

DB Build #1 | Safi’jiiva Dual Blades Build

An Ice Dual Blades build can be used against Alatreon

The full Safi’jiiva Armor set bonus will increase your Elemental Damage as long as you stay on the offensive. You will need to augment your weapon with Elemental and Damage.

The recovery is taken care of by the bonus from True Dragonvein Awakening. This build is pretty risky if you are new to Dual Blades. However, elemental damage from this build is one of the best in MHW.

Furor will increase your Attack during the HP drain, empower your DPS to new level.

For other elemental, replace your Dual Blades with the corresponding Kjárr Dual Blades, switch out the elemental decoration and you are good to go.

Dual Blades Build #2 | Raging Brachydios + Teostra Armor

This is similar to other melee weapons builds (Great Swords, Sword, and Shield…) Master Touch is also a great addition to Dual Blades. If you don’t like the Safi’jiiva HP drain, this is a good option.

Similar to Safi’jiiva Dual Blades build, simply swap the elemental decoration & Dual Blades when you need a new elemental build.

Dual Blades Build #3 | USJ Armor + Fatalis

The USJ Armor Set (Azure Armor Set) has True Critical Element as 4 pieces bonuses – this is the same as Silver Sol Armor Set (One of the set that was used for many Dual Blades build in this guide)

Fatalis Dual Blades Build

You tell me this is not the meta?

A full Fatalis Armor Build can give you enough slot for whatever you want on your Dual Blades build. Some prefer

Full Fatalis Dual Blade Build

The level cap unlock can let you use Agitator without equipping two pieces of Raging Brachydios. Combine with the generosity of level 4 Decoration slot, max out Agitator is relatively easy.

If you prefer a comfy approach, Stamina Surge/ Marathon Runner & Constitution is a great addition for Dual Blades. Combine this with the HP + Stamina boost from Fatalis Armor set, you are all set for MHW endgame.

Fatalis + Safi’jiiva Armor Dual Blades Build

If you don’t want to go full Fatalis, combine two pieces of Fatalis with 3 pieces of Safi’jiiva is also a good choice

This build removed the comfy element and focus more on the offensive side. You will need Item Prolonger maxed out (Hard Enduring Jewel 4) to counter the stamina drain using item like Dash Juice.

Resentment, Attack Boost, Agitator & Critical Eye/ Boost are your main focus in this build.
